Chuck Everett, Test Engineering Manager for Whelen, began engaging with CheckSum 20 years ago while looking for an efficient, In-line ICT solution. Chuck recalls, “I was looking at the big names in the industry—Agilent (Keysight) and Teradyne—and was blown away by the CheckSum system’s competitive innovation”.
What started with a single system purchase has grown over the years to 11 In-Line Systems located at both of Whelen’s manufacturing facilities. The result has been a great partnership between Whelen and CheckSum. Over the years, Everett has made suggestions that CheckSum has implemented to improve their In-line product offerings.
The first ILS Checksum developed was bought by Whelen Engineering. When they suggested a better design for fast fixture change, we listened and all our customers have benefitted.
When the first ILS that Checksum had ever developed was bought by Whelen Engineering, they proposed a better design for a fast fixture change and we listened. As a result, all our customers have benefitted. “I appreciate working with a company that deeply values our partnership and is open to suggestions on how to improve their products”, Everett stated, adding “a company that actually listens to customer’s ‘real world’ feedback and reacts to it adds real value to the partnership!”
“We continue to use and purchase the CheckSum ILS because, in 18 years, we have had no downtime due to system failure.”
“In 18 years, we have had no downtime due to system failure. That’s right, none. CheckSum creates quality products, and have a knowledgeable team that provides the service and support we need.“
Whelen has continued to expand their manufacturing lines and they all use the CheckSum In-Line System. During that time, the only parts ever replaced have been the conveyor belts, a common consumable for in-line equipment.
CheckSum’s pneumatic designs and ease of use software has enabled Whelen to produce their own test fixtures and programs. “The flexibility of the CheckSum system allows us to design and build our own test fixtures. This has been invaluable in keeping our cost of test manageable over the past 20 years”, says Everett. “If you need a partner in board test, CheckSum is your best bet.”
