Philips Lighting (recently renamed Signify) produces quality, energy-efficient Industrial and Consumer Lighting products. Founded over 100 years ago in the Netherlands, Signify is now a global leader.
Signify adopted CheckSum as their best ICT solution in their Chicago lab and their world-class Tijuana manufacturing facility with 14 state-of-the-art SMT lines.
Signify (formerly Philips Lighting) and CheckSum have worked together for 15 years with the goal of meeting Signify’s vision to unlock the extraordinary potential of light for Brighter Lives and a Better World. CheckSum ICT has been adopted as their best solution in their Chicago lab and their world-class Tijuana manufacturing facility with 14 state-of-the-art SMT lines.
As product demand increased over the past decade, Signify outsourced their overflow production to Flextronics in Juarez, specifying that Flex use CheckSum systems for in-circuit test of Signify products. Signify was also an early adopter of CheckSum’s high-volume flash programming technology MultiWriter™ because it enabled Signify to program all the devices on their boards in parallel, improving throughput. The Test Development team endorsed the CheckSum technology,
“We rely on MultiWriter™ to program all the microchips for our high-volume products. At least 80% of our products have programmable chips and being able to program in the production line reduces inventory headaches and has been an amazing cost saver without adversely affecting our TAKT times”.
When Philips Lighting Electronics needed faster TAKT times to meet increased production goals, CheckSum developed dual and quad core ICT technology which enables two to four in-circuit test engines to work together to test multiple boards simultaneously. Later, Signify served as a beta site for CheckSum’s V12 all-digital ICT measurement board that doubled throughput once again.
“We really appreciate the close working relationship we have with CheckSum. They have always supported us, including great flexibility in scheduling the test fixtures and programs before physical samples are available. We know we can continue to count on CheckSum to work with us whatever our needs are.” – Signify Test Development Team
